Two kinds of ice maker in Plymouth
In the established Plymouth neighborhoods around Bass Lake, Medicine Lake, and Greenwood, ice makers are refrigerator-mounted: Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE, Samsung, and LG modules in the freezer or in the door. They fail from scale in the fill path, ice in the fill tube, and worn ejector gears, generally between year seven and year ten.
In the newer Elm Creek, Plymouth Creek, and Vicksburg corridor homes, kitchens and butler's pantries commonly add a dedicated clear-ice machine — Sub-Zero UC-15I, Scotsman Brilliance, or U-Line. Those are a different animal: gravity drains, water pumps, evaporator plates, and cleaning cycles. Most of their failures are scale and dirty condensers rather than dead components, which means the repair is often maintenance done properly rather than a part swap.
Both types get the same first question from us: is the water actually arriving, and is the compartment actually cold enough? Answering that before opening the unit is what separates a fixed ice maker from a replaced part that changes nothing.
