Quick answer

Kegerator repair — Quick answer

Most kegerator repairs land $185–$725 all-in. CO2 leaks and faucet rebuilds sit at the low end; sealed-system refrigeration, condenser fan replacement, and tower-cooling fan service sit at the high end. Built-in Sub-Zero, True, Perlick, and Marvel platforms cost more for parts than freestanding EdgeStar or Kegco units. EPA 608 certified for sealed-system work. 1-year written warranty.

What's wrong

Common kegerator failures we fix

Kegerator not cooling — keg getting warm

Failed condenser fan, dirty condenser coils (built-in units run hot in cabinetry), low refrigerant from a sealed-system leak, failed compressor start relay, or failed thermostat. EPA 608 sealed-system diagnosis on the first visit.

$285–$725 · 90–150 min

Compressor runs constantly, never cycles off

Thermostat failure (stuck closed), low refrigerant charge, condenser fan slowing down, or door seal letting warm air in. Common on built-in Sub-Zero, Marvel, and Perlick kegerators after the 10-year mark.

$325–$685 · 90–150 min

Beer freezing in the lines or in the keg

Thermostat set too low, thermostat sensor probe out of position, or a stuck temperature control. We recalibrate and verify with a digital probe at the keg-coupling height.

$185–$385 · 60–90 min

Foamy beer / pours nothing but foam

Beer too warm (sealed-system issue), CO2 pressure too high, dirty beer lines, a kinked or undersized beer line, a draft tower that's warmer than the keg, or a damaged faucet seat. We diagnose all six on-site.

$185–$385 · 60–90 min

Draft tower warm at the top

Failed tower-cooling fan (kegerators with active tower cooling), or — on passive-cooled towers — insulation has degraded inside the tower. Tower fan motors are stocked OEM parts on the truck.

$245–$485 · 75–120 min

CO2 tank empties unusually fast

Slow CO2 leak — most often a worn keg-coupler washer, a loose CO2 regulator fitting, or a cracked beer-line tubing connection. We pressure-test the gas side and isolate the leak.

$149–$285 · 45–75 min

Stuck or leaking faucet

Stuck faucet handle, scored faucet seat from beer-line debris, or a leaky faucet shaft seal. We rebuild or replace the faucet — most kegerators use Perlick 525SS or 630SS forward-sealing faucets which we carry.

$185–$325 · 60–90 min

Built-in kegerator overheating in cabinetry

Cabinetry airflow insufficient — condenser can't reject heat. Common on Sub-Zero 700BR built-in installs when the panel surround restricts the front-vent. We verify airflow and clean the coil.

FAQs

Kegerator repair — common questions

How much does kegerator repair cost in Minneapolis?

Most kegerator repairs land $185–$725 all-in (parts + labor + the flat $149 trip fee for refrigerated equipment, which is credited to the repair). CO2 leak diagnosis and beer-line cleaning sit at the low end; sealed-system refrigeration work, condenser fan motor replacement, and tower-cooling fan service sit at the high end. Sub-Zero, True, Perlick, and Marvel built-in kegerators run higher because the parts cost more.

Can you fix my kegerator today?

Same-day windows are available across the Twin Cities and Central MN when you call before 2pm weekdays. About 70% of kegerator calls finish on the first visit — we carry common thermostats, condenser fan motors, tower fans, Perlick faucet rebuild kits, and keg-coupler washers on every truck. Sealed-system refrigeration work sometimes needs a parts overnight.

Do you repair built-in Sub-Zero kegerators?

Yes — Sub-Zero UC-24BG, 700BR, and 700BC built-in kegerators are one of our specialty platforms. Sealed-system service (EPA 608 certified), condenser cleaning, thermostat replacement, drain-pan diagnosis, and panel-installation airflow verification. See our /subzero-appliance-repair page for full Sub-Zero detail.

Why is my beer pouring all foam?

Six common causes, in rough order of frequency: (1) beer is too warm (over 40°F at the keg — a refrigeration problem); (2) CO2 pressure is set too high (most US ales sit at 10–14 psi at 38°F); (3) beer lines are dirty (line cleaning every 2 weeks for active kegerators); (4) the draft tower is warmer than the keg (tower fan failure); (5) the keg coupler washer is worn (introduces air); (6) the faucet seat is scored. We diagnose all six on-site.

What temperature should a kegerator be set to?

38°F at the keg coupling for standard American ales and lagers. Verify with a digital probe at the keg coupling, not at the thermostat sensor in the cabinet. CO2 pressure for 38°F service runs ~10–14 psi depending on the beer style. Higher temps require higher CO2 (warmer beer holds less CO2 in solution).

Are you EPA 608 certified for sealed-system work on kegerators?

Yes — every senior tech is EPA Section 608 certified. We have recovery machines, micron gauges, brazing torches, and access to OEM compressors and filter-driers for Sub-Zero, True, Perlick, Marvel, U-Line, and standalone kegerator platforms.

What kegerator brands do you repair?

Built-in: Sub-Zero, True Residential, Perlick, Marvel, U-Line. Freestanding: EdgeStar, Kegco, Whynter, Avanti, Newair, Summit. Commercial pass-through kegerators in bars, breweries, restaurants, and event venues are quoted separately and often require larger sealed-system work.

Can you convert my kegerator from full-size keg to slim quarter or sixtels?

Yes — we install conversion kits for dual-faucet to single-faucet (or vice versa), slim-keg to full-keg, sixtel and torpedo couplers, and homebrew Cornelius ball-lock/pin-lock kits. We also do CO2-to-Nitrogen conversions for stout-on-tap installs (separate gas line and N2 regulator required).

My kegerator runs constantly and never shuts off.

Three common causes: failed thermostat (stuck closed — the most common), low refrigerant charge (sealed-system leak), or a slowing condenser fan that can't reject heat. We diagnose with a clamp-on amp meter on the compressor, an electronic refrigerant leak detector on the sealed system, and a verify on the fan motor draw.

Do you clean beer lines?

Yes — beer-line cleaning with caustic and acid cleaners is included on any kegerator repair call as a small add-on charge. For routine maintenance we recommend cleaning every 2 weeks on active kegerators. Standalone line-cleaning service (no repair) is available — call for pricing.

What is the kegerator trip fee?

$149 for kegerators (refrigerated equipment tier). The diagnostic fee is fully waived when you approve the repair. Written quote before any parts are installed.

What's your warranty on kegerator repairs?

Every completed kegerator repair carries a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty in writing. Same failure inside 12 months, we come back free. Sealed-system refrigeration work carries the same 1-year warranty.

Is my old kegerator worth repairing?

Built-in Sub-Zero, True, Perlick, and Marvel kegerators are almost always worth repairing through 15+ years — the chassis is sound and most failures are sub-$700 fixes. Freestanding EdgeStar, Kegco, Whynter, and Avanti kegerators under 8 years are worth repairing; past 10 years the sealed-system replacement cost often exceeds the unit's resale value.

Can you service a commercial kegerator in a bar or restaurant?

Light-commercial kegerators (cafés, dental office break rooms, small bars under 4 taps) we service on the standard residential rate. Heavy-commercial pass-through, glycol-cooled, or long-draw systems we quote separately and may refer to a commercial refrigeration specialist.
