Is my LG fridge covered by the linear compressor warranty?
LG's 10-year sealed-system warranty covers the linear compressor part on most LG refrigerators sold from 2014 onward — French-door, side-by-side, top-mount, and counter-depth. The warranty runs from the original purchase date and covers the compressor only (not labor, not the inverter board, not other failed components). We pull your serial and confirm warranty status on-site before any work is approved.
What does Er CF or Er Co mean on my LG fridge?
Er CF = compressor fan fault. Er Co = compressor lock (the linear piston has seized). Both are linear-compressor faults and both typically qualify for the 10-year warranty replacement. The codes appear on the dispenser display or, on units without a display, by a slow blinking pattern on the icemaker LED.
How much does LG linear compressor replacement cost?
If your fridge is within LG's 10-year sealed-system warranty, the compressor part is free from LG. Labor runs $385–$575 depending on model (the flat $149 trip fee is credited toward the labor cost). Total out-of-pocket on a warranty claim is typically $385–$575. If you're past 10 years and need a paid replacement, the compressor itself runs $385–$525 and total job is $785–$1,150.
How long does the repair take?
Once the compressor arrives from LG (3–7 business days), the install is 3–4 hours on-site. The sealed system must be recovered, the old compressor removed, the new one brazed in, the system pulled to deep vacuum (500 microns), and recharged with R-600a per LG's exact charge spec. We return at 24 hours to verify sustained pull-down if needed.
Will LG just send me a new fridge instead?
Almost never. The 2020 LG linear-compressor class-action settlement closed and is no longer accepting claims. LG's current remedy is the warranty compressor replacement — they will not replace the unit. If the replacement compressor also fails within the original 10-year window, the part is still covered; another labor bill applies.
Should I just buy a new fridge instead?
If you're within the 10-year warranty and the fridge is otherwise good, almost always repair — total cost is $385–$575 vs. $1,800–$3,500 for a comparable replacement fridge. If you're past 10 years and looking at $785–$1,150 for the compressor job, the math is closer; we'll walk through your specific model on-site.
Are you EPA Section 608 certified for sealed-system work?
Yes — all our techs are EPA Section 608 Universal certified, which is required for any refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and recharge work. We do not sublet sealed-system work and we do not vent refrigerant.
Do you handle the LG warranty claim for me?
Yes — we pull the serial, contact LG with the failure data, get the warranty compressor authorized, and order the part. You sign a written quote for labor before we proceed; we handle the rest.
Which LG models are covered?
Most LG refrigerators with linear compressors (LFXS, LFXC, LFCS, LSXS, LRMVS, LRFVS, LRFXS, LRMDS, LMXS, LMXC, LRFCS, LFCC, LRSDS, LRSPC, LRMVC and Kenmore Elite refrigerators built by LG with model numbers starting 795.7 or 795.4). We confirm the warranty status by serial number on-site.
What if it turns out it's not the compressor?
We tell you on-site. About 15% of "compressor failure" calls turn out to be a failed start relay, condenser fan motor, or inverter board — all paid repairs but much cheaper than a compressor job. The $149 trip fee covers the diagnostic either way and is credited to whatever repair you approve.
How fast can you get out?
Same-day diagnostic windows are available across the Twin Cities when you call before 2pm on a weekday. The compressor install itself happens after LG ships the part (3–7 business days from authorization).
Do you offer a warranty on the labor?
Yes — 1-year written labor warranty on our install work. LG's compressor part carries the remainder of their 10-year sealed-system warranty.
