We diagnose with a magnehelic gauge and quote the real fix. Sometimes the answer is a duct cleaning, not a hood repair.
A loud or rattling hood almost always means the blower wheel is out of balance (grease buildup on one side, or a broken plastic blade) or the motor bearings are worn. Older Vent-A-Hood Magic Lung centrifugal blowers can be rebuilt rather than replaced; standard squirrel-cage blowers get a new wheel and motor.

Stainless baffle filters: every 30 days for heavy cookers, every 90 for light. Pop them in the dishwasher with grease-cutting detergent. Charcoal recirculation filters: replace every 6 months. Aluminum mesh filters: clean monthly, replace when the mesh deforms.
Yes — LED-panel hoods (Zephyr, Wolf, Thermador, Faber) use a single sealed driver-and-LED assembly that we replace as a unit. We carry the common OEM parts in stock or order overnight for less common SKUs.
Yes — in tightly-sealed modern homes, a 1200+ CFM hood can pull a negative pressure that backdrafts gas water heaters and gas furnaces (a CO safety issue). MN code requires make-up air for installs over 400 CFM. If you're noticing this, we'll diagnose and recommend a make-up air system. We coordinate with HVAC for the install.

A power flicker can blow the internal fuse on the hood's control board (most luxury hoods have a 250V/1A or 2A glass fuse on the PCB). It's a sub-$10 part swap — we'll check it first before assuming the board has failed.
We're a repair shop first. We do replacement installs as part of an existing repair call (e.g. when the hood is unrepairable), or for jobs where the brand-match matters (replacing a Wolf with a Wolf, or a Thermador with a Thermador). For standalone new-construction installs we recommend hiring a kitchen contractor.
