Local cooktop repair, finished today
Cooktops are central to the kitchen and a single dead burner gets in the way of every meal. We service every type across Minneapolis, St. Paul, Edina, Eden Prairie, and the western suburbs, with same-day windows when booked before 2pm. Our trucks roll loaded for GE, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Bosch, Wolf, Viking, and Thermador — the brands we see most.
Gas cooktop repair
Gas cooktops fail along a predictable path: spark ignitor failure (the burner clicks but won't light, or doesn't click at all), spark module failure (no burners click), gas valve issues (burner lights but won't stay lit on low), and clogged burner ports (uneven flame). Most repairs are done same-day with parts from the truck. We're licensed for gas work and pressure-test every connection after the repair.
Pro-style cooktops from Wolf, Viking, and Thermador are common across Edina, Wayzata, and Lake Minnetonka kitchens. These units use a different ignitor architecture than residential brands and require brand-specific parts — we carry them.
Smooth-top and induction cooktop repair
Smooth-top radiant cooktops fail at the radiant element (most common), the infinite switch, or the touch-control board. A cracked glass surface is its own job — we replace the entire glass top, which runs $280–$540 in parts depending on brand. Induction cooktops are different: each cooking zone has its own induction generator board, and a single dead zone usually means swapping the generator for that zone. Bosch, Samsung, GE Profile, and KitchenAid induction units are all serviceable; we know the parts and the diagnostic flow for each.
Honest pricing, real warranty
Flat $149 trip fee, waived the moment you approve the repair. Most cooktop repairs land between $200 and $480 all-in. Cracked glass-top replacement runs $380–$680 depending on brand and size. Induction generator boards run $320–$580. Pro-style cooktop work (Wolf, Viking) is quoted in writing. Every repair carries a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty.
Maintenance for long cooktop life
Gas cooktops: clean burner ports monthly with a soft brush — clogged ports cause uneven flame and ignitor wear. Don't soak the burner caps; let them dry fully before reseating. Smooth-top cooktops: never use abrasive pads, and clean spills immediately while warm (not hot) — sugar burned onto a smooth top will pit the glass permanently. Induction cooktops: keep the surface dry between uses and don't slide cast-iron cookware across it; the bottom edges chip the glass over time. For all types, check the venting (range hood or downdraft) every six months and clean the filters — a clogged hood pulls heat back down onto the controls and shortens their life.

FAQ
Cooktop Repair — common questions
My gas burner clicks but won't light — what's wrong?
+
Usually a clogged burner port, a dirty ignitor electrode, or a wet burner cap. If cleaning doesn't fix it, the ignitor or spark module is the next suspect. We diagnose the actual cause on the first visit.
Can a cracked smooth-top cooktop be repaired?
+
Not repaired — replaced. The entire glass top swaps as a unit. Parts run $280–$540 depending on brand; total job typically $380–$680 all-in. Most done same-day if the part's on the truck.
One zone of my induction cooktop is dead — fixable?
+
Yes — usually a single induction generator board for that zone. Runs $320–$580 typical. We diagnose which board on the first visit.
Do you service Wolf and Viking pro-style cooktops?
+
Yes — including the Wolf CT15GS, CT30G/S, and Viking VGSU series. We're factory-trained on both lines and carry brand-specific ignitor and valve parts.
How much does cooktop repair cost?
+
Flat $149 trip fee, waived when you approve the repair. Most cooktop repairs land between $200 and $480 all-in.
All my burners click constantly even when off — fixable?
+
Yes — almost always moisture in the spark module from a spillover. Drying it out works about half the time; replacement always works and we carry the common modules on the truck. Most calls finish in under an hour.
Why does my induction cooktop say my pan isn't compatible when it always worked?
+
Three causes in order: (1) the pan moved off-center on the zone (re-center it); (2) the pan bottom warped from heat cycling — induction needs flat ferrous contact; (3) the induction generator board for that zone is failing and pulling weak power. We test all three on the first visit and replace the generator board ($320–$580 all-in) when that's the failure.
My electric coil cooktop has a burned-looking socket — is that dangerous?
+
Yes. A brown burn mark or melted plastic on a coil receptacle means heat is arcing across the contacts. Stop using that burner — the next coil you plug in will arc too and can cause an electrical fire. Receptacles are a $15 part; we replace them in 15 minutes once we're on-site. Don't keep using the burner.
How long does cooktop repair take?
+
Gas ignitor / spark-module / burner-port work: 45–90 minutes. Smooth-top radiant-element replacement: 60–90 minutes. Induction generator-board swap: 90–120 minutes. Cracked glass-top replacement: 60–120 minutes plus part-order time if the glass isn't on the truck (typically 2–3 business days for OEM). Most jobs finish in one visit.
What cooktop types and brands do you repair?
+
Every type: sealed-burner and open-burner gas, electric coil, smooth-top radiant, induction, downdraft (with built-in venting), and pro-style gas. Every major brand: Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Bosch, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE, GE Profile, GE Monogram, Frigidaire, and Kenmore. OEM parts on every truck for the most-failed components.
