Three causes in order: (1) the pan moved off-center on the zone (re-center it); (2) the pan bottom warped from heat cycling — induction needs flat ferrous contact; (3) the induction generator board for that zone is failing and pulling weak power. Yes. A brown burn mark or melted plastic on a coil receptacle means heat is arcing across the contacts. Stop using that burner — the next coil you plug in will arc too and can cause an electrical fire. Receptacles are a $15 part; we replace them in 15 minutes once we're on-site.
