What do LG refrigerator error codes mean?

LG uses a two-character "Er" code system that maps cleanly to the failed part once you know the alphabet:

• Er CO — communication error to the linear compressor inverter. 9 times out of 10 it is the inverter board or the compressor itself, not a wiring issue.
• Er IF — ice-room fan failure. Common on French-door units; the fan freezes in place after a defrost cycle leaks moisture into the bearing.
• Er FF — freezer fan circuit. Usually the fan motor; occasionally the main control board.
• Er rF — refrigerator-side evaporator fan. Often paired with warm-fridge / cold-freezer symptoms.
• Er dH — defrost heater circuit. The defrost heater or its thermistor has gone open.
• Er rS / Er FS — refrigerator or freezer temperature sensor open or shorted.
• Er 67 — door not closing / left ajar fault on door-in-door models.
• Er HS — humidity sensor on dual-zone units.

Why is my LG ice maker not working?

LG has two ice maker platforms and they fail differently:

How long should an LG refrigerator last?
