Most common Viking refrigerator failures we fix on the first visit
The Viking built-in refrigerator ticket pattern is consistent enough that we stock parts for it on every truck. The top six calls: (1) upper-cabinet condenser fan motor failure (loud fan, then no fan, then a warm fridge within 24 hours); (2) evaporator fan motor seizure (frost buildup on the evap coil, warm fridge but freezer holds); (3) condenser-coil fouling on installs with insufficient airflow clearance — Viking spec requires 1″ above the upper grille; (4) E1 / E2 thermistor faults on the control board; (5) door-gasket compression failure (warm-spot, sweating, ice buildup in the freezer); and (6) ice-maker fill-valve solenoid failures throwing the ice-production-low fault.
Sealed-system work — compressor, evaporator leak, capillary, dryer, refrigerant recovery and recharge — is the call that gets refused most often by generalists. We're EPA Section 608 certified, so VCSB and VBI sealed-system repairs stay in-house instead of getting bounced to a referral.

Built-in diagnostic visit: $189, waived when you approve the repair. Typical all-in cost (parts + labor + 1-year written warranty) by repair type: condenser fan motor replacement $385–$580; evap fan motor replacement $385–$620; control board (E1 / E2 faults) $620–$985; door-gasket kit $295–$485; ice-maker assembly $385–$640; water-valve solenoid $285–$420. Sealed-system work (compressor, evap leak, capillary, refrigerant) runs $725–$1,650 depending on parts availability and refrigerant type.

EPA-608 sealed-system repair on Viking VCSB & VBI columns
Federal law requires EPA Section 608 certification to legally open the sealed refrigerant loop on any built-in refrigerator. Most local appliance shops don't have a certified tech on staff and refer this work out at a markup — or worse, refuse it entirely and tell the homeowner the unit is unfixable. On Viking VCSB, VBI, and VCBB built-ins, the sealed system is what fails most after year 12, and it's exactly what we keep in-house.
