1. Rotor-position sensor (RPS) failure (most common, years 4–8)
What it is: The hall-effect sensor stack mounted to the stator fails or its wiring corrodes. The control board loses position feedback and faults F51 mid-cycle, usually during the first agitation burst or the spin ramp.
Fix: Replace OEM RPS assembly, verify clean signal through diagnostics mode, run a normal cycle to confirm.

2. Loose rotor bolt or shifted rotor magnet
What it is: Center rotor bolt backs off, the rotor lifts a few mm, and the sensor stops seeing the magnet correctly. Often presents with a faint metallic ticking before the F51 trip.
Fix: Pull rotor, inspect magnet ring for damage, torque rotor bolt to OEM spec, verify a full cycle.

3. Shifter / actuator failure
What it is: The mode shifter that engages basket vs. agitate is stuck. The motor spins but the board sees no movement at the basket, throws F51. Common at year 7+ on Bravos XL units.
Fix: Replace OEM shifter actuator, verify mode change through diagnostics, run a full cycle.

4. Main control board (less common)
What it is: Board output to the motor or RPS input fails. Diagnosed only after RPS, rotor, and shifter check out.
Fix: Replace OEM main control board, verify cycle.
