Fix: Replace all 4 OEM Whirlpool suspension rods as a set (mixing old and new rods re-creates the imbalance). About a 75-minute repair.

What it is: The plastic splined hub between the drive motor and the inner basket strips out. Motor spins, basket doesn't (or spins late and weakly). Heavy loads throw UL because the basket starts rotating after the motor is already up to speed.

Diagnostic order
Torpedo level across the top, front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the 4 leveling feet until bubble is centered, then lock the jam nuts.
Cabrio has a built-in self-calibration: empty washer, hold Start/Pause and rotate the cycle knob through the LED indicators to enter diagnostic mode. Run the calibration.
If empty calibration still throws UL, it's mechanical — not load-related. Move to suspension and hub inspection.
Pull the top panel, inspect all 4 rods for oil leaks (damping failure) and bounce-test the tub. More than 2-3 cycles of bounce = rod replacement.
By hand, rotate the basket clockwise. Free spin with no resistance from the motor = drive hub stripped. OEM hub replacement is a 90-minute job.
